Biena Magbitang is a multi-award winning multimedia journalist from the Philippines, renowned for her insightful coverage of critical topics such as climate change, energy policies, and foreign relations across Southeast Asia.
Her impressive career has been marked by her leadership in producing and orchestrating notable special live and breaking news coverages and news and talk shows including her pivotal role in ABS-CBN News Channel’s (ANC) flagship newscast, The World Tonight – a program recognized as Asia’s longest-standing English newscast.
Her strategic vision has also been instrumental in shaping the digital landscape of ANC, resulting in a remarkable 1,000% surge in social media channel growth and an impressive 4,000% surge in digital revenue.
She currently leads Climate Tracker Asia, a role in which she not only delivers captivating reports on high-level summits, and leads discourse on pressing global issues through thought-provoking roundtable discussions, but also imparts her wisdom to budding journalists through mentorship and training.
Her excellence as a documentarist is evident through an array of honors, including notable recognition in the New York Festivals Awards for Climate Change and Sustainability, Biography and Profiles, and Community Portraits categories, garnering both silver and bronze medals. Her team was also awarded the New York Festivals-United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI) Silver Award in 2017.
